Engagements are in!

Hello All!
Here are a few of our engagement pictures we just had taken! These ones are some of my favorites and as I picked them out, I realized that they are the pictures that most people would think of as the "mess up" pictures: ie Casey talking, or me laughing. It's either that, or kissy pictures :] Hehe! I decided that I like these ones the best though because they show our silly personalities! Let me know your thoughts!
Love to all

festival of colors!

This weekend was the festival of colors at the Hare Kirshna temple in Spanish Fork. It's a celebration they do in India for the welcoming of spring and the "good riddance" to the winter. Basically it's a bunch of kids that go and buy their "safe colored powder" which is like a brightly colored corn starch that kinda smells and (I found this out the yucky way) tastes sweet. Then we throw it at each other after they say this "peace to all the earth" prayer type thing. For about 2 straight minutes the sun is blocked out by a giant plume of colored dust, and no one can breathe. It literally got dark for a second because there was so much up in the air. I had to cover my mouth and nose with my jacket so I could breathe. It cleared, though, and the sun came out and everyone looked like the rainbow! Here are some random pictures. Enjoy!

i can't wait to be a nelipot

nelipot: someone who walks without shoes

green grass. sunshine. the lake. flowers. flying a kite. swings. birds.

These are a few of my favorite things and I need spring to be here so they can happen!!

just my thoughts

So I've been hearing lots lately about a talk John Bytheway gave at a Stake Conference around here recently. It hit home with me because it's something I really want to work on in my own life.

He told a story about a teacher who brought in a big glass jar. He pulled out several large rocks and put them in the container. He asked the students if he could fit anything else in there. They said no. He next pulled out a container of smaller rocks. He poured them in the container, filling the spaces between the large rocks. Once he had filled it to the top, he again asked them if he could fit anything else in there. They, again, said no. The teacher then pulled out a bag of sand. He poured the sand in, and let it trickle down until it filled the spaces between the different sized rocks. Once more, he asked if they thought there was room for anything else, and the students replied that there was not. He pulled out his last container that contained water. He poured the water over the top of the different sized rocks, filling it completely to the brim.

The teacher then compared it to our lives. The larger rocks represent the things that are most important to our happiness in our lives, which for me are things like my family, attending my church meetings, reading my scriptures, saying my prayers. The medium sized rocks are things that are also very important, but maybe a little less than the "large rocks." Those things for me might be school and work and things like that. The sand and the water are things that we do for fun, in our spare time, like hanging out with friends, going to movies, bike riding, running.

The comparison is this: We need to be making sure the "large rocks" of our lives are in place first and foremost. Then the smaller rocks, and then the sand and water. If we fill our containers all the way to the top with sand and water, there is no room for the other stuff, the big stuff that actually matters. It's all about how we prioritize and make sure our lives are in order so that we can be living the most fulfilling life we possibly can. We deserve it.

photo of the day 3.21.20

Well, apparently I was a little more excited about this photo of the day thing!

This is a picture from a spontaneous little "adventure" that Lani and I went on yesterday. We just drove and drove, and ended up about 100 miles south on this long straight road that had nothing but field on either side of it. This picture doesn't show a lot of details, which is part of the reason I love it. I just loved the color palette and the freshness of it. It was such a pretty sight :]

photo of the day 3.20.10

Soo... this is a picture from when I was home with my family last year. We were just hanging out on the back hill and I found this little flower hidden amongst all of the grass. It was really pretty, and this is the view from the very back of my parents property. Lucky them, huh?!

photo of the day 3.19.10

I haven't taken very many pictures lately, so this one is just going to have to suffice until I can get out there and snap some more shots! Also, when I say "photo of the day" that just means "photo of the day that I decide to put one up" so don't count on having one every day, or every other day... or every week. My spontaneity is something that makes my life a little morning interesting!! Keeps me on my toes...
"what will she do next...?"

answer: no one really knows for sure...
